Our Programs
The École Georges Méliès offers four training courses in the visual-media sector: a one-year applied arts preparatory class, a 5-year course in Animated Cinema (covering all techniques, both 2D & 3D), and a 5-year course in Cinema (real-life shooting, real-time VFX, virtual and augmented reality). These two distinct curricula are linked to each other in a holistic approach and lead to the realisation of joint projects.

Applied Arts Foundation Year
One-year leveling program in applied arts
APPLIED ARTS FOUNDATION YEAR
One year of preparation to join École Méliès and strengthen the required skills.
This preparatory year enables students to acquire the academic fundamentals essential to artistic training. It meets the requirements of the École Méliès entrance exam, as well as those of other art programs.
Duration: 1 year
Curriculum:
Observational drawing, Perspective drawing, Color, Museum visits, Life drawing, Modeling, Art History, Film analysis, Film culture.
Animated Image Artisan
Five-year training for careers in animated cinema and digital visual effects.
ANIMATED IMAGE ARTISAN
Our students work across the entire production pipeline, whether a film is created in traditional techniques (stop-motion, 2D) or digitally.
Duration: 5 years

Cinema Artisan
Five-year training for careers in real-time technologies.
CINEMA ARTISAN
Acquire the cross-disciplinary skills required by the industry to move toward live-action careers in a constantly evolving sector.
The goal is to develop an analytical eye for the images of today’s—and tomorrow’s—cinema, to strengthen skills through practice, to understand every stage of a film’s production pipeline, and to master the technical fundamentals of live-action shooting.
Duration: 5 years

Pre-production (technical constraints, team management…), Digital techniques for live-action shoots (virtual stage, framing, sound recording, lighting…), Post-production (ingest, editing, mixing…), Programming, Blueprint, Virtual reality, Real-time motion capture, Real-time 3D…
Professional Program
A 12-month professional training program, a European pioneer for an innovative, future-proof career.
VIRTUAL PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
This program aims to train expert profiles capable of supporting productions in the technical and artistic development of their projects, overseeing film pre-production, and implementing the technical solutions required on set to match real and virtual spaces.
In practical terms, the VP Supervisor is the key point of contact for the various departments of the shooting crew—from pre-production through post-production—providing the best technical solutions to serve the director’s vision.

Admission Requirements
Admission requirements at École Méliès vary depending on the program and/or the year of entry.
Whichever program you choose, the application fee for École Méliès is €90.
Fine Arts Foundation (One-Year Prep)
To join our Foundation year, you must pass a motivation interview and hold a baccalaureate (or equivalent). A solid general and artistic culture, applied-arts skills, and an open mindset are also expected.
At the end of this year—and based on continuous assessment—you may enter the 1st year of the Animated Image Artisan program. Admission to this preparatory year is without a competitive exam and is evaluated via continuous assessment.
Applications for this program are accepted throughout the year.
Apply2025 Entrance Exam – Animated Image Artisan
Entrance exam composed of two remote tests (color test and storytelling test) and on-site tests (observation drawing, motivation interview).
Apply2025 Entrance Exam – Cinema Artisan
For this program, you must complete a motivation interview as well as a multiple-choice test.
Applications for this program are accepted throughout the year.

Immersion Days
Every year during the February holidays, École Méliès offers a 3-day consecutive immersion course on campus.
