Join École Méliès for the 2026–2027 academic year

Saturday, March 21, 2026 marks the next entrance exam day to join École Méliès in the Animated Image Craftsman, Cinema Craftsman or Preparatory Fine Arts Class programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Interview sessions for the Preparatory Fine Arts Class are also held on this day.

This exam day is designed to assess your creativity, artistic vision, general knowledge and motivation to join the school.

A new opportunity to present your world, your sense of image and your study project within École Méliès.

Exam schedule — March 21

Animated Image Craftsman

Before March 21
  • Remote illustration exercise: completion of a preparatory work submitted to the school, of which the original must be brought on exam day.
Exam day — at the school
  • Observation / perspective exercise: candidates draw what they see from within the school (no posed model), assessing their eye, composition and spatial construction skills.
  • General knowledge MCQ: written test covering general culture topics.
  • Motivation interview with the jury: discussion based on your portfolio, background and study project.

Cinema Craftsman

Before March 21
  • Creative home assignment: upon registration, you receive a theme by email and have 8 days to produce a free-form creation on that theme: video, photo series, photo novel, music video, film excerpt, etc. (maximum duration: 2 minutes).
  • The aim is to assess your creativity and ability to tell stories through images, rather than technical quality alone.
Exam day — at the school
  • Film culture MCQ: landmarks, works, directors, genres and cinema vocabulary.
  • Interview with the jury: discussion around your creative assignment, inspirations, background and professional project.

Preparatory Fine Arts Class

Candidates for the Preparatory Fine Arts Class also attend their admission interview on this day. No technical exam is required beforehand.

Admission requirements

  • Hold a Baccalauréat (or equivalent, current or forthcoming).
  • Pass the entrance exam for the chosen programme.
  • Have a solid general and artistic culture.
  • Be comfortable with digital tools.
  • Application fee: €90.
