Joining École Méliès for the 2026–2027 academic year
Saturday 17 January 2026 marks the first entrance exam day to join École Méliès in the Artisan de l’Image Animée, Artisan du Cinéma or Preparatory Class programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Interview sessions are also organised on the same day for the Preparatory Class.
This exam day is designed to assess your creativity, your artistic eye, your general knowledge and your motivation to join the school.
A first opportunity to present your world, your visual sensibility and your study project within École Méliès.
Schedule of the 17 January entrance exam
Animated Image Artisan
Before 17 January
- Remote illustration test: production of preparatory work sent to the school, and you must bring the original on the exam day.
Exam day – at the school
- Observation/perspective drawing test: candidates position themselves in the school and draw what they see (no life model), to assess their eye, composition and spatial construction.
- Multiple-choice general knowledge test: written test on general knowledge topics.
- Motivational interview with the jury: discussion based on your portfolio, your background and your study project.
Cinema Artisan
Before 17 January
- Creative assignment at home: as soon as you register, you receive a theme by email and have 8 days to produce a free piece of work on this theme: video, photo series, photo story, music video, film extract, etc. (maximum length: 2 minutes).
- The aim is to assess above all your creativity and your ability to tell stories with images, more than pure technical quality.
Exam day – at the school
- Film culture multiple-choice test: key references, works, filmmakers, genres and film vocabulary.
- Interview with the jury: feedback on the creative assignment, your inspirations, your background and your career plan.
Admission requirements
- Hold (or be in the process of obtaining) a Baccalauréat.
- Pass the entrance exam corresponding to the chosen programme.
- Have a solid general and artistic culture.
- Be comfortable with digital tools.
- Application fee: €90.
