Illustrator & Director – Gaëtan BRIZZI
Conversation with an animation and film professional
Paul and Gaëtan BRIZZI are cartoon directors, painters, and illustrators. After studying at the ENSAD (École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs), the two brothers made themselves noticed as early as 1977 by winning the César Award for Best Animated Short Film for their movie Fracture. Later, they directed Asterix Versus Caesar for Gaumont and Dargaud Film before creating their own company named Brizzi Films. They joined Disney’s television subsidiary in 1989 and thus got the opportunity to work on a Christmas Special episode for Welcome to Pooh Corner, then they worked on TaleSpin, Goof Troop, and DuckTales. Their production studio then joined the ranks of Disney’s film subsidiary, which allowed them to work on the Firebird sequence of Fantasia 2000.
