Program Outline

A detailed year-by-year breakdown of the program content.

Years 1 & 2 — Theoretical and technical fundamentals

Learn to design, organise, and make a live‑action film. From pre‑production to post‑production, prepare a script, run a set, frame and light, and edit picture and sound.

In Year 2, strengthen the skills acquired in Year 1 by fostering creativity through concrete projects in shooting, editing, writing, and directing films, enabling the practical application of film knowledge and audiovisual skills. An ideal path to gain hands‑on experience in cinema, build solid technical skills, and refine your artistic and narrative eye.

Third Year — Professionalisation

Advanced training in digital and film cinematography. Exposure to current on‑set practices and modern workflows. Production of a first short documentary under professional conditions, plus industry immersion through an internship.

Fourth Year — Specialisation and Graduation Film

In the fourth year, students deliver a real‑time project developed over the full year under professional audiovisual production conditions. Working within a team, they put their technical and creative skills into practice while developing soft skills in a collaborative environment. This graduation project provides a concrete approach to cinema and audiovisual careers and may be conducted in collaboration with students from the Artisan of Animated Image programme, fostering synergy across disciplines.

Fifth Year — Master’s

The fifth year runs as a work‑study programme, allowing students to pay no tuition fees while being salaried by their host company. This alternating rhythm supports a gradual professional transition into cinema and audiovisual careers while valuing on‑the‑job skill development.

Student testimonial

A first year rich in hands‑on experience. I learned a lot across different areas—from photography to video, editing, 3D, and even VFX. I developed a whole new perspective on these fields thanks to the keys we were given, and through the various exercises throughout the year, covering both organisation and method which, beyond the classroom, adds real value to how we act and approach our tasks.
