Bastien CHAUVET

Graduated in 2005 from École Méliès, in the Animated Image Artisan course, Bastien Chauvet is hired at EST by Christian Guillon and accompanies him, in particular, on the set of Asterix 3.

He then alternates between EST, Mikros VFX, and Def(2)Shoot, where Franck Malmin offers him his first opportunity to work as a supervisor.

In 2008, he co-founds La Cour des Miracles with Art Director Looky. Together, they develop methods for creating 3D animations that remain as close as possible to 2D concepts.

From then on, he alternates between animation projects (Switez, Moustique, Cigale et Cambriole, Sherlock Gnomes…) and VFX projects (Valerian, L’Ascension, Tycoon).

During these years, he collaborates with Jacques Perrin, Raoul Peck, Luc Besson, John Stevenson, and Louis Leterrier.

He later starts working for Weta Digital on Rampage and Mortal Engines. Back in France, he takes on the role of Technical and Visual Director at Dargaud Media, which he leaves in August 2020.

It has been a true place of transmission for me. It is a place where I met people who were more like mentors than teachers; people who educated me, and introduced me to the world of visual effects.”
